Jungle Gym Jitters

As young Jerry looks on with mounting trepidation, his father George builds an increasingly tall and baroque jungle gym, complete with swing tires, looping slides, and fantastically towering chutes and poles. What begins with a few pieces of leftover lumber banged together with nails gradually morphs into an amazingly intricate construct that has the entire neighborhood climbing and playing. Terrified of heights, Jerry is redeemed when he rescues his sister from the top of the soaring contraption after it catches on fire during a party. The story is told in rhyming verse, but the stunningly, almost impossibly detailed pencil art of the neighborhood children and animals scurrying all over the mind-boggling jungle gym is the real prize.
